Deeds Not Creeds? (The "Purpose Driven Life" Has No Purpose) & Is Unity Without Truth Possible?

Mark Kielar: "The trend [in the church today] is towards broader, towards vague, or all inclusive statements of faith. But as John Gill Rightly pointed out, a good confession of faith, or a statement of faith, if you want to call it that, would be anything but vague and generic, because to have a vague and generic statement of faith, is a bit like having a security guard posted at the front door of your building, who lets anyone and everyone in. And that's exactly what many churches have chosen to do today. They're using their statements of faith as almost a tool of evangelism, with the idea being, the more broader and more inclusive they can make their faith statements, the more people will come and try their churches, when the true purpose of a statement of faith is supposed to be to boldly and honestly declare what you believe.
