Infant Baptism vs Credo in a Nutshell

I think the major distinction between our positions is that Paedos equate those in the new covenant with the visible church, and Credos equate those in the new covenant with the body of Christ.

I am sure that someone else has probably characterized the difference this way before, but this is something I thought of during the recent discussions we had on infant baptism. I think this may be the simplest way to draw a distinction between the two positions.

What is interesting is that I can find no reference in the Bible to the new covenant relating to both wheat and tares. The only references I find are those which indicate the new covenant consists of those who have been born again…those who are already a part of the body…the Bride of Christ.

Therefore, while I certainly understand the Paedo’s sentimental reasoning with respect to assuming their children are in the covenant of regenerated sinners, there is no scriptural support that they are. I must conclude, based upon the explicit descriptions within the Bible, that the new covenant is indeed referring to those within the Bride of Christ, and not merely those persons who may be found within the visible church.

For Whom Did Christ Die ? by John Owen

HT: Saved By Grace

John Owen(1616-1683)

"To which I may add this dilemma to our Universalists:

God imposed his wrath due unto, and Christ underwent the pains of hell for,

1. either all the sins of all men,

2. or all the sins of some men,

3. or some sins of all men.

If the last, some sins of all men, then have all men some sins to answer for, and so shall no man be saved; for if God entered into judgment with us, though it were with all mankind for one sin, no flesh should be justified in his sight: “If the LORD should mark iniquities, who should stand?” Psa 30:3. We might all go to cast all that we have “to the moles and to the bats, to go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the Lord, and for the glory of his majesty,” Isa 2:20b-21.

If the Second, that is it which we affirm, that Christ in their stead and room Suffered for all the sins of all the elect in the world.

If the first, why then, are not all freed from the punishment of all their sins?

You will say, “Because of their unbelief; they will not believe.”

But this unbelief, is it a sin, or not?

If not, why should they be punished for it? If it be, then Christ underwent the punishment due to it, or not.

If so, then why must that hinder them more than their other sins for which he died from partaking of the fruit of his death?

If he did not, then did he not die for all their sins. Let them choose which part they will."

Jesus, The Only Hope Does Not Keep People Against Their Will-Kevin Williams

In this sermon we see that true Christianity unlike the other religions like Catholicism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam, does not convert people by the sword. And that God does not keep people against their will. We look at Judas, and even though Jesus knew from the beginning of his betrayers hatred towards Him, Jesus treated Judas with the utmost love and kindness.

Fathers Not Needed, Abortion Stays The Same, But Let's Give Human Rights To Apes, The U.K. Tries to Rival California on Immorality

As the U.K. government attacks the family by declaring father's are not needed, and gives its vote of approval to the cold blooded blooded murder of the unborn, a British teacher and animal rights activist Paula Stibbe is going to the European court so that 'Matthew' the chimp can have human rights and be legally declared a 'person'.

It seems that after seeing California ban homeschooling and allowing homosexual marriage, that the U.K. is currently trying to rival them for immorality.

Charles Spurgeon on the Joy of his Church Members Dying.

"As I have often told you, there is never a week without some of our number being taken up. Although I have visited a large number of dying believers, I have never yet visited a member of this church who has expressed the least fear in his dying moments, or the slightest dismay in the hour of departure. It makes me feel happy to see how the brethren and sisters die; they pass away as if they were going to a wedding rather than to a tomb, as if it were the most joyful thing that ever happened to them to have reached their expected end."

Jer 29:11- Christian, You Are Israel & God Only Has Thoughts of Love & Peace Towards You -Kevin Williams

Whilst lukewarm seeker friendly churches have abused Jeremiah 29:11, many have run to the other extreme, also in error, to disregard this verse as if it's little more than a history note. Christian, God does love you and all His thoughts and plans towards you are good.

In this sermon we look at how Scripture clearly teaches that the all Christians are of Israel. And all of the promises to Israel apply to the believer. We look at the amazing lengths God goes to in His providential care and love for His Elect, His Chosen People.

True Believers Can Not Lose Their Salvation, But Not All Truly Believe -Kevin Williams

Improved Sound Quality.

In this sermon we show from Scripture the clear teachings of the Doctrine of Election and the Sovereignty of God in Salvation and that God Word’s clearly teaches that true believers cannot lose their salvation, but many professing Christians have a dead faith that is not from God and does not save. We also look at the consequences when the church neglects to teach these important doctrines.

How would you feel if your thought life was to be shown on National TV tonight?

What if someone told you that your every thought from the day you were born had been recorded and will be shown tonight on national TV? And not only that, but a website will flash across the screen during the program, directing all of your friends and family to where they can watch all of your thoughts about them. How many people would be angry with you? Everyone? Would you be angry with yourself?

Your thought life reveals the real, unrestrained you. Most people think they're good enough to get to Heaven and God won't send them to Hell, but God has seen every one of our wicked thoughts and actions. He has seen every time you've broken His commandments, lusting over someone you're not married to, lying and stealing (no matter how little); He knows every time you've carved a false idol of God in your mind, a corrupt god of your own imagination who will turn a blind eye to your sin. He has heard every time you've used His Holy Name in vain, using the name of the One who gave you life in place of a curse word. You wouldn't do that with Hitler's name, but you do it with God’s name! The “Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain,” (Exodus 20:7) and “every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment.” (Matthew 12:36)

Be honest with yourself: when you face God on Judgment Day - keeping in mind that He's seen your every wicked thought and action - will He find you innocent or guilty? If God gives you what you deserve, should He send you to Heaven or Hell? God has written His moral law on your heart so you are “without excuse” (Romans 1:18-32); you know it is wrong to lie, to steal, to lust, and to curse because God gave you a conscience to know right from wrong. Your own conscience demands justice!

Imagine a courtroom scene where a child rapist is coming before the judge for sentencing. But instead of giving him what justice demands, the judge lets him go free because the rapist is a “nice guy” who has given to charity and goes to church every Sunday. You would be outraged, and you should be! Yet most people think the High and Holy God is just like this corrupt judge, and that they can bribe Him with their “good deeds” so that He'll overlook their sin.

Again, what would you think if the judge said to the rapist, “I'm a very loving judge, so I'll just let you go free?” You would not think that the judge was loving at all, but that he was corrupt and not worthy to be a judge! Yet most people expect the Holy God who is “the judge of all the earth” (Genesis 18:25) to be just that corrupt with them, and overlook their sin.

Infinite Love and Goodness demand Infinite Justice. Because God's love and justice are infinite He won't punish only murderers and rapists, but He'll punish ALL sin wherever it's found. That's why “the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9) “No thief, no sexually immoral person, no idolater will enter heaven” (1 Corinthians 6:10) and “all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone.” (Revelation 21:8)

Now the question for you, dear reader, is this: is there any hope for someone like you? Is there any hope for the person who has defied God time and again by rebelling against His will and refusing to love and worship Him? Is there any hope for the criminal who stands guilty in the courtroom of God? Yes there is! There is forgiveness with God!

The Gospel (“good news”) is this: Imagine you are in a human courtroom and the judge finds you guilty, and because he's just, gives you the maximum fine of ten million pounds. But there is no way you can pay the fine, so you're about to spend the rest of your life in jail. Then someone you've never met before steps into the courtroom and says, “I've sold all my worldly goods to pay your fine.” Your fine has been paid, so justice has been served and you're free to go! Well, two thousand years ago God became a man, Jesus Christ, who was born of a virgin, led a sinless life and then suffered and died under the wrath of God on the cross to pay the penalty in full for all your sins. Then He rose again in triumph over all the powers of death and darkness, so that in Him we can have eternal life. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

But it's not enough to merely believe “intellectually” in order to be forgiven by God. The Bible says that even the demons believe intellectually! (James 2:19) In order to have real forgiveness, you must repent, as Jesus Himself said: “unless you repent you will also perish.” (Luke 13:3) And repentance means turning fully away from your life of sin and turning fully to God, trusting in Jesus Christ ALONE to save you and not your own deeds; trusting in Him as the One Who willingly stood in your place on the cross, taking God's wrath for you; the wrath YOU deserve.

What are you waiting for; don't gamble with your eternal salvation! “Your life is a vapor,” (James 4:14) and you have no way of knowing which second will be your last. “Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.” (Isaiah 55:6-7) God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but desires for you to turn from your sins and live! (Ezekiel 18:23) You have a personal invitation from the Lord Jesus Christ Himself: “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29)

John Calvin On Abortion-The Cold Blooded Murder of an Unborn Child

"...for the foetus, though enclosed in the womb of its mother, is already a human being, (homo,) and it is almost a monstrous crime to rob it of the life which it has not yet begun to enjoy. If it seems more horrible to kill a man in his own house than in a field, because a man’s house is his place of most secure refuge, it ought surely to be deemed more atrocious to destroy a foetus in the womb before it has come to light."

Victory in the Christian Life

By Mason Vann HT: Thoughts on the Way.

We must militate against the idea that continual defeat and unbelief is normal Christianity. Walking in victory with a clean conscience is the birthright of every single Christian. A defiled conscience a sign that something is wrong[1]. Notice the sweeping statements made by Paul concerning his own life:

Paul, looking intently at the Council, said, "Brethren, I have lived my life with a perfectly good conscience before God up to this day" (Acts 23:1).

For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this acquitted (1 Cor 4:4).

The latter half of the last reference guards us against Perfectionism. Christian perfectionism, simply stated, means a person can obtain total sinlessness in this life. But are we really in danger of Perfectionism? As Ravenhill once said, it's like setting guards around a cemetery in fear of a violent uprising among the occupants. Guards are necessary, but only where danger exists. A "Beware of Sharks" sign is utterly unnecessary here in Missouri.

Along these lines, we should tell inquiring Christians when we are walking in victory. We have a tendency to think this is arrogance. But nothing is further from the truth. I can't tell you the help I received the other night simply by hearing my friend tell me his conscience is clear and he isn't defeated. However, we cannot move toward this until we rediscover the truth of normal Christianity - believing God and a life characterized by victory over sin.

mv

[1] Notice I didn't say a defiled conscience is a sign a person is in sin. Sometimes the problem is simply a matter of need for further instruction in the truth.

Romans 7- and the Dangerous 'Wretched Christian' View (Repeat Post)

This is a repeat post because I feel it is so important to have a correct understanding of Romans 7. Thinking right about this has a massive effect on how you live your Christian life. I can only implore those of you who have not read Charles Leiters article and listened to Tim Conway's 3 sermons below to take the time to listen to them and you will be blessed.

There is no doubt that wrong view that the Romans 7 man is the Christian strongly appeals to the flesh.
But to take the Romans 7 man as the Christian is to disobey God's command in Romans 6:11 "
So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus." God commands us there that we must think right about ourselves, that unlike the Romans 7 man, we Christians are dead to sin, sin does not have dominion over the Christian, sin is not the Christians master. We are commanded to think right in order to do battle as 6v12 then commands "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions."
-------------------------------------------------------------

Kevin Williams.

One of the most dangerous teachings in the church today is the 'Wretched Christian view' of Romans 7. See also: (Romans 7 by Charles Leiter.) Unfortunately this common teaching on Romans 7 is to isolate it from the surrounding verses and chapters and go against everything that has been said.

The language of the man of Romans 7, is not a man who occasionally sins, or a man growing in Holiness with leftover sins, but rather, a man in complete bondage to, practicing a lifestyle of sin. It is the man, 1 John says "is of the devil". This is clearly Paul pre-conversation. What often throws people is when Paul says "For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man" people presume that this must refer to a saved person as otherwise they would have no regard for God's law. But Paul, before he was saved, was a Jew and a 'Pharisee of Pharisee" and so of course he delighted and took pride in the Law of God, but in his flesh he was still serving and in bondage to sin.

A Christian should not be living defeated and in bondage to sin like the Romans 7 man, and if he is then there is every indication that he or she is lost. Here Tim Conway delivers three life transforming sermons on Romans 7, and shows that if you're a believer then, as Rom 6:14 says, "sin shall not have dominion over you":

Ingrid Responds To Rick Warren's Invitation + Mark Driscoll to Speak at Warren's Event

Ingrid Schlueter of CrossTalk America was invited on behalf of Rick Warren to this years Purpose Driven Church Gathering. The invitation can be read here.

HT: Slice of Laodicea

Here is sister Ingrid's response:

Dear Erik, (who wrote to Ingrid on behalf of Rick Warren)

I am in receipt of your invitation offering an all-expenses paid trip to Saddleback’s worship conference. I cannot accept your invitation. In the world of live church webcasts, book publishers, websites and so on, it is no longer necessary to travel to see a church to understand what it is all about. Your pastor’s copious writings, speeches and sermons are online and available for everyone to see and analyze in the light of God’s Word.

No amount of time spent with Rick Warren or the worship conference leaders at Saddleback can change basic facts. One of your speakers, Pastor Mark Batterson, recently referred readers on his website to the writings of New Age teacher, Eckhart Tolle, featured by Oprah Winfrey. He said that Tolle’s book, Practicing the Power of Now, was instrumental in the way he thought about life. I could not sit and listen to someone with that lack of discernment. Also featured at your worship conference is Pastor Jentezen Franklin, of the Free Chapel in Gainesville, Georgia. This is the pastor who featured a Michael Jackson Thriller dance on his church platform at a Halloween-themed service, complete with a haunted house set-up on stage. Again, how could I sit under that kind of pastor to learn about worship of the Most High God? Additionally, you have Pastor Mark Driscoll as a speaker. Mark’s filthy language and vulgarity is not fit for any woman’s ears, and I’m not about to subject myself to his disobedient use of coarse jesting in the name of ministry. It does not comport with the Scripture’s requirements for conduct in the office of the ministry. Pastor Mark Beeson of Granger Community Church will also be there to speak on the subject of worship. I cannot listen to a “pastor” who claims personal responsibility for the sex-sermon-campaigns by churches across the nation. These campaigns have brought complaints even from the unregenerate who are sick of their children getting hit with lewd materials in public places. Any pastor who is responsible for this kind of filth has nothing to share on the subject of worshiping our holy God.

Pastor Rick Warren has had vast financial resources to share with the world his solution to mankind’s problems. He, unfortunately, has chosen to introduce an entirely new generation to a social gospel, rather than the exclusive message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is telling that none of the E’s in his P.E.A.C.E. plan stand for “evangelism”. This is wrong.

I cannot agree to Rick Warren’s invitation. He has been biblically confronted repeatedly by those far more able than I regarding his numerous unbiblical teachings and the damage they have done to churches nationwide. We are to worship the Lord both in spirit and in truth. The mixture of truth and error is a dangerous combination spiritually, and that is why I will not be coming to Saddleback.

Sincerely,

Ingrid Schlueter

-How we can prove the Bible is true and that the Bible we have today is the same as the originals in the 1st Century.

Charles Spurgeon - Imparted Righteousness. "Without holiness no man shall see the Lord"

From Charles Spurgeon "the Wedding Garment," preached at Metropolitan Tabernacle 1871:

"Holiness is always present in those who are loyal guests of the great King, for "without holiness no man shall see the Lord." Too many professors pacify themselves with the idea that they possess imputed righteousness, while they are indifferent to the sanctifying work of the Spirit. They refuse to put on the garment of obedience, they reject the white linen which is the righteousness of saints. They thus reveal their self-will, their enmity to God, and their nonsubmission to his Son. Such men may talk what they will about justification by faith, and salvation by grace, but they are rebels at heart, they have not on the wedding dress any more than the self-righteous, whom they so eagerly condemn. The fact is, if we wish for the blessings of grace, we must in our hearts submit to the rules of grace without picking and choosing. It is idle to dispute whether the wedding garment is faith or love, as some have done, for all the graces of the Spirit and blessings of the covenant go together. No one ever had the imputed righteousness of Christ without receiving at the same time a measure of the righteousness wrought in us by the Holy Spirit. Justification by faith is not contrary to the production of good works: God forbid. The faith by which we are justified is the faith which produces holiness, and no one is justified by faith which does not also sanctify him and deliver him from the love of sin."

Todd Bentley's Healing Revival, The Blaspheming Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

Kevin Williams
Todd Bentley a 'Toronto Blessing' peddler, who claims he's had personal visitations from an Angel called Emma, (since when were Angels female?) and he's been in contact with the Apostle Paul who told him things that contradict the Bible, is the latest Charasmania Healing Revival on god-TV (or as I call it 'Anti-Christ Television' who's god is their belly).

Now I (author) do believe God does still speak today and in fact 'I'm getting a Word from God right now' and here it is:
Colossians 2:18: "Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind,"

So what's happening in this 'revival'? Are children being obedient to parents, breweries closing down because everyone's attending prayer meetings and Bible Studies, with masses of people crying out to God broken in repentance? Well actually no. What rather is happening is Charasmaniatic professing christians, are descending to Lakland, Florida to watch a circus.

Why don't these 'healers' go to the hospitals?

See for yourself about Bentley's healing 'revival' . Here are some links:

Does This Offend You? Does Calvinism & the Cross, & A Disregard of Your Traditions Offend You?-Kevin Williams

When Jesus preached the truth of what we term today as Calvinism, and the cross, and that people's rituals and traditions were worthless, many were offended and followed Him no longer.

Also in this sermon we look at the idolatry in Anglo-Catholicism or High Church of England. How many in the Anglican church are unwilling to let go of their Roman Catholic rituals like bowing to a stain glass window despite the clear commands of Scripture not to, because they are unwilling to let go of traditions and come to Christ and be saved.

Gospel Sermon CD Tracts

Kevin Williams
Giving out CD's with good Gospel sermons on is a great way to reach those who are perishing. They're relatively cheap to produce and a Gospel message much longer than a Gospel tract, is not only easier for the receiver to hear, but much more likely to make an impact.

Just as I was praying the other day for guidance on whether to use a little bit of money we had on either Gospel tracts or CD's, I received a text message from a man "Hi, someone gave me your CD and I have lots of questions."

In fact, we get a much bigger response per CD's given out, than Gospel Tracts.

People tend to keep hold of CD's, even if they don't listen to them straight away. There have also been many times like for instance a workman will be doing a quick job, and I have given him a CD, and explained what it is and they have replied "thanks, I'll listen to it in the car on my drive home."

You can give Gospel Sermon CD's to the post lady, gas meter readers, door-to-door sales men, at Christmas, why not give a card with a Gospel sermon CD inside, to everyone in your street , and post one to your friends and relatives.

They're also easy to carry and great to give away to the person on the counter at the petrol station, local shop, bank etc, and are wonderful to give to someone after you have had a witnessing conversation in the street.

Mission To Middleton.

It is our prayer here that God's Name will be glorified in this town. We want everyone to hear the Only way of Salvation, and if people still go to Hell, they will have to climb over our prayers and Gospel proclamations to do so.

Middleton has a population of 45,580, and we aim to give a Gospel Sermon CD to each home.

For every £15, we can produce and distribute 100 Gospel CD's including printing and sleeves. Please ask the Lord if He would like you to contribute and if He does you can donate with the donate button at the top-right of the page. We have no admin or staff costs, and currently any money given goes to evangelism.

We use various sermons on the CD's (2 normally fit on an 80 min disc), and trust the Lord to get the right message into the hearts of the right people.

If you are not a Christian, or if you are not sure if you are forgiven and going to Heaven, then I believe it is not by accident that you are reading this, and if that's you, then please take the time to listen to one or more of the Gospel sermons below (click on blue links to play or right-click/save-as to download mp3's), if you are concerned about your soul then please do get in touch with us, there is nothing more important. Eternity is forever.
