By Kevin Williams. As Jesus reminded His disciples in the Sermon on the Mount, that for those under the Old Covenant, God commanded "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth", but in the New Covenant, Jesus says "But I say unto you," and then He instructs us that in the New Covenant He commands us to do the exact opposite and more:
"That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.". Matt 5:39-42.
Such is the by far higher standard of the Law of Christ in the New Covenant over the Old Covenant.
