OK, I wont be anonymous anymore. Let me just say that I do not endorse Todds ministry at present. You win the argument as far as where he is now.

I am contending for the church to follow after Christ. Todd did this to some degree better than almost anyone. Unfortuneately like other healing evangelist he got prideful. The scriptures were fullfilled in that Pride came before a Fall. Go figure.

Anton: Good comentary on Matt 11:12, thanks for all of the work you put in. Hope you gained from it as much as we did. That is good to know but I have to say you are interpreting from Human reason.

Think of this we wrestle not with flesh and and blood powers principalities. When Todd does these strange antics he is doing it to change something in the spiritual realm.

Surgeons are mean people with those knives cutting and so forth. Maybe you should criticize them.

The people that get punched and kicked dont get hurt for the most part. They are the only ones that have the right to complain, and they arent. If you had a cancer or something you would not complain about a kick or a punch, you would want the healing. (not that all illness is a demon)

The spiritual realm is more real than the natural because it is going to remain forever. This earthly tent is going to be destroyed.

Perhaps it is not a great idea to place Todd Bentley, or any of his ilk, in the somewhat unique category of 'Son of God'!

As for Matt 11:12, the full context must be taken into account, and not just a literal (mis)understanding. The correct translation uses the Hebrew word 'poretzet' (from the verb 'paratz'), meaning to breach, break out. (Jesus was also known as 'Son of Peretz' - he who breaks out). And so Matthew 11:12 is translated : 'And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of the Heavens is being breached and the breachers are possessing it', a reference to a passage in Micah - that the Messiah (Shepherd) comes to breach the fold (the boundaries of Heaven and earth) so that his followers (sheep) could follow him to the Heavenly realm - God is declaring Christ over John.

But even if you must take the literal understanding of 11:12, it is NOT justification of violence - a literal statement about the Kingdom of Heaven 'suffering violence' does not mean we should be contributing to that suffering by doing violence. Remember, the phrase beforehand is 'yet he who is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he' - a (literal) statement of meekness, the humble, the mild.

Todd has no powers, he cant heal a fly if it had a headache. It is the God that does the healing. I believe through the ministry of Angels (not fallen ones of course:-). I will be the first to admit that Todd is a Bozo. But in the eyes of the world, and religous leaders Jesus was not well thought of either. My challenge is do better, is your chuck swindoll brand of Christianity producing fruit? healing, deliverance, salvation, changed lives? You cant through the Baby out with the bath water. Todds record of successful healings, true confirmed honest miracles speaks for itself. However his tainted life does as well.
Those who would cast the first stone may want examine their lives in lite of Mathew 10:8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the leper, cast out demons.
Look at the movement for what it is trying to do, WDJD ... What DID Jesus Do. I personally cannot understand why we have any other model than Jesus, and the Apostles. Or others that have adapted a consistent version.

I have been observing Godtv for a number of months. What strikes me most is the sheer, blatant focus on money, money, money.... and the willingness to exploit, distort and otherwise abuse the word of God. I am no saint, far from it, I am as flawed as the next guy, but please tell me : how does 'raising' 7 million USD and planting 257000 trees reflect the word of God? Half the poplulation of the world lives on less than 2 USD a day, one child dies every five seconds because pf poverty and these fools are planting trees?

I have been most intrigued by this whole 'fresh fire ministries' saga and their 'Outpourings' (Capital O !) and have been waiting for the climactic self-destruct to happen...
Either I am sadly mistaken, or 'someone' with a LOT of clout has 'pulled' TB out of the limelight - probably because he has WAY overstepped his mandate to spread the most heinous and deceitful false teachings since the garden of Eden and more than likely because he has been hogging all the glory for himself. I am sure that his 3 angels, 'emma', 'promise' and 'winds of change' are not at all pleased with their puppet...
How much damage has been done remains to be seen, but thank God (the Father), we do all know how this will end.

I'm utterly gobsmacked (!) that ANY true discerning bible believing Christian could listen to TB and think he's anything but lost in a sea of self righteousness, arrogance and pride at the very least, or perhaps still possessed at worst. Those who warble about not judging others should think twice also - there is a major difference between judging others and discerning false teachers. Christians who think you shouldn't judge others, and weigh up their ministries in particular will be those who will be part of the current Apostasy scripture prophesied would hit "even the elect". I used to wonder how that could ever happen - now I know. Scripture ALONE must be your guide for discerning such leader's works, and if what they are saying or doing isn't found in scripture, then it is NOT from God. That's not to say that God won't use such ministries in His Will for some people for their good, but you will have no defence before Him, if you determine not to "judge" such ministries as utterly errant. What TB and his cohorts preach is nothing short of occultism mixed up with a grain of Christianity which for those in the audience who're deceived, sounds fine because they don't pay any attention to those (like us) who're trying to warn them otherwise. I've also come out of a hypercharismatic similarly errant church, and I can say 20 odd years on I'm STILL suffering from what was done to me there (I was ill at the time, but in their eyes, was possessed and thus had to have repetitive deliverances!!). Once again, all I can urge you all to do is to heed Paul's admonishment to "test the spirits" - TB has yet to preach the true Gospel in a meeting - all he preaches is occultism - you have been warned!! I am just so scared about all of this. Is it from God or is it from Satan? Listening to the clip on this page, and the violence from Todd, I don't know what to believe. Sure, he could be possessed by a demon, trying to tear him away from God.
All that hysterical laughing is definately not from God.That frightens me. It could be Satan coming through, and he doesn't realise it.
I am desperate for truth, and have lopked at the likes of Colin Fry. I am not sure that this is truth either, although accurate. I think a lot of misleading can happen.
Regards to Jehova's Witnesses, I see them being the ones scoffed at these revival meetings, often by silence and a look that says it all.
This makes me wonder if they are the right ones, as no other faith, when spoken about, has the same reaction, from the revival teachers.
I know there is another life, after this one, but all these things confuse me, and make me just want to sit quietly, and see waht happens naturally.
I pray to be guided to the Truth.
When my wife passed away, without me asking, a lot of things happened to me, that were much more than coincidences. I don't know if these messages were from her or just another thing misleading me against the truth. They were nice, happy, and not in the least frightening. Christians would call this the work of Satan

Dear brothers and sisters

I greet you in the love of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.

I write to you to plead the case of Todd Bentley, our brother in Christ.
It has weighed heavy on my heart the different attitudes and opinions that fellow Christians have shown to Todd.
This morning I am reading the gospel of John and was once again reminded by the words of Jesus when He prayed to the Father on our behalf. “May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” John 17:23b and also;
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

I ask you this, how is your criticism and condemnation of Todd demonstrating any of the above commands of Jesus?

It reminds me so much of the Pharisees who tried to find fault with Jesus when he healed a man born blind. John 9. In verse 24-25 “A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. "Give glory to God," they said. "We know this man is a sinner." He replied, "Whether he is a sinner or not, I don't know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!" and verse 33, “…if this man were not from God, he could do nothing.” Tens of thousands have been healed directly or indirecly as a result of the revival in Florida, and many have given their hearts to Jesus, bringing glory to God. How is this a bad thing? Look at the fruit!
I ask you again; who’s work are you doing; who are you glorifying by your words and attitudes?

Thank you for clearly posting contradictions in this ministry - I should say cult. I went the through the Toronto Movement, and was deceived, and this is worse than that. I trusted leaders that led me wrong. Is there no discernment anymore?

People want so bad to believe God is working they will follow men and manufactured spirituality. It's evil.

Jesus is concerned that we not have a critical spirit toward others, especially about their motives as to why they did something. We can’t assume to know another person’s heart; only God can. When we are unfairly critical, overly harsh, or unduly judgmental, we need to remember that God will use that same standard on us. I don’t know about you, but I need grace. So do those I love. I’m going to try very hard to be as gracious toward others as I’m trusting that God is going to be gracious with me.

Prayer…
Forgive me, Abba Father, for the times that I’ve been far more critical of others than I should be. Arouse within me a passion to be gracious toward others so that they can see your graciousness shining through me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

06-23-08 Update: Due to the many emails I have received about Doug Perry and time I have spent in prayer, I am cancelling my interview with Doug Perry of the Fellowship of the Martrs on June 27, 2008 and I have nothing bad to say about Todd Bentley of Fresh Fire Ministries and would still like to personally interview him if we can setup a date and time to do so.

I have learned that it is not up to us to judge one another and where someone else is in their walk with God and that just because Todd Bentely has tattoo's and is a biker does not make him a bad person. I know of many Christian bikers that have many tattoo's and I am one, but this does not mean I am evil. I think more people need to worry about themselves and where they are in their walk with God before pointing fingers at others.
