Do Spurgeon's words ever get old?? Great words by Mr. Spurgeon, it's got to be said. Thanks Kev for posting them. False Doctrine is a threat to the gospel. How can we not speak against heretical teaching?? There is much union in the church today (the result of joining together people or things to form a whole, regardless of what they believe) but very little unity (that which truly exists when people believe the same thing). I for one will never settle for union.

Exactly Puritan.

The true gospel is relevant always, but it is also offensive to those who are perishing. So why would we want to frost the gospel with poison just to attract the perishing? We need to keep it pure and pray God does the work of opening their eyes. We cannot do it ourselves, only God can. We just have to follow Him. I am so tired of the circus we put on. I also is ashamed of how little I have been studying the Bible myself, and am now thinking I was so much more into "what can I get" from the people in the church...though I didn't realize I was doing it. Looking back, this seems to be my main problem, I let things pass because of the good things I thought people were doing...and they were nice. I also want to believe my leaders are good and true. How immature of me!

Yes, it’s another lesson from Spurgeon that if a preacher is Biblical and true to God’s Word, like he was, and doesn’t altar the message to try and appear “relevant” to his time, then what he says ends up being relevant to all time.

Thank you!

We have come just shy of leaving our church because of the so called preaching going on, it's tiptoeing into false doctrine. It's been very hard and it's been a big learning curve for my family. We are just now waking up to the foxes in our midst. Sadly, a few dogs work in our church and have to live with the foxes daily. We love the foxes and grieve their position and pray they could change. I am grieved.

What an amazing image, Kevin! And what a shame that it has to be true. The saddest thing of all is that some of these "foxes" take a few "dogs" with them as they return to their "holes." People are looking in all the wrong places for "experiences" with God when God can be found in His Word. I'm praying that many of us will feel the weight of the results of these false "evangelicals" and will preach the true Gospel to him who has ears to hear.

Thank you, Kevin! What a great quote. Some things never change, do they? All it takes now to be considered a believer is to say that you are one. The fruit of your life, your doctrinal beliefs, none of it matters, and if you question the validity of the claim based on hard evidence, you are "judging" someone's soul. That's how this garbage being done in Christ's name has gotten so far in evangelicalism.
